Stop taking life so seriously! You were sent here to be a caretaker
of the earth and enjoy all it has to offer. Tell a joke, get your
sense of humor back, make those around you laugh and enjoy your
company. It has been proven, but we often forget, that laughing
and smiling is good for our health. So smile and have some fun!
In the rat race society we live in we often get absorbed with the
trials and tribulations of everyday life. We have plenty to worry
us; issues in our relationships, family problems, financial stress,
house maintenance and tight time restrictions. And at the end of
the hectic day we are greeted with the television news that continues
to remind us of the war, terrorism, a struggling economy, the rising
gas prices and a failing educational system. Is it a mystery why
we forget to have fun? We must force ourselves to remember the extreme
proven benefits of laughter and a smile on our health and the health
of those around us.
According to studies done in medical science, laughter has an important
role to play in good health. It enhances your blood circulation.
It can lower high blood pressure and raise low blood pressure. It
can increase oxygen to your lungs and bloodstream due to the quick
breaths that accompany a good laugh. Best of all, it lifts your
spirits, relieves anxiety and makes depression disappear. A proverb
from the Bible says, A merry heart does good, like medicine,
but a broken spirit dries the bones (Prov. 17:22).
Now let us not be selfish and think that a smile, some laughter
and fun is only for our well being. When you smile, it improves
the health and well being of those around you. People are attracted
to those who smile. People feel more comfortable around those who
smile. People will open up and talk more frequently to those who
smile. When you make someone laugh, you actually relax him or her.
People generally feel good around people who laugh and have fun.
It has been stated that, A smile is the shortest distance
between two people.
Studies have also proven that fun and laughter in the workplace
increases productivity. When people smile it triggers the brain
to have a more positive and optimistic outlook on potential problems
and situations. It also has the magic ability to de-escalate hostile
environments. Thus, producing a more worker friendly environment
for all those involved. Tomorrow, be positive and surround yourself
with positive people at work and watch your productivity rise.
If you have been overwhelmed lately, make it a priority to re-discover
your fun side. Make a commitment to make you and someone else laugh
out loud. Tell a joke, get your sense of humor back, make those
around you laugh and enjoy your company. When you stop taking life
so seriously, both you and those around you will enjoy a happy and
healthy life.
